Which are the Best Restaurants in Unexpected Places?

Noah

We all love a good meal from time to time and so we treat ourselves to a nice restaurant. Sure, the food is the most important thing about a restaurant, but what if the food and the atmosphere are both super cool?

Today’s article is about these super cool restaurants that everyone should visit at least once. We decided to specifically concentrate on restaurants in unexpected places such as speak-easies because who doesn’t love a hidden gem with amazing food? Enjoy reading and exploring!

The Heliot Steak House

Heliot Steak House

The Heliot Steak House, housed in Hippodrome Casino, was voted the best steakhouse in London, as well as being the triple award winner of Best Casino Restaurant at the British Casino Awards. What’s unexpected about it? Well, being in a casino for one!

Most casinos offer buffets or have simple restaurants that serve easy-to-prepare meals such as burgers or chicken tenders, but not Hippodrome Casino. The Heliot Steak House is certainly an outlier and we doubt you will find a restaurant half as good as it in any other casino.

It goes without saying that if you ever visit The Heliot Steak House you have to try their steaks. We recommend the Angus ribeye steak.

Beauty & Essex

Beauty & Essex is a trendy restaurant and bar in Manhattan with a very interesting location. Beauty & Essex got its name from the streets Beauty and Essex as it’s located in their intersection, but that’s not what’s fascinating about it.

If you book a table over the phone and you haven’t been to it before, you might get a little lost at first because there’s a pawn shop at that location. Once you enter the small pawn shop and let them know you have a reservation though, the cashier will open the back door to reveal a high-ceiling restaurant with an amazing staircase and a beautiful chandelier.

Yes, this speakeasy-style restaurant with three floors hides in plain sight, masked by the garage-sized pawnshop. The food is fantastic and we recommend ordering their tapas menu, so you can try as many dishes as possible.

Lainio Snow Village Ice Restaurant

Lainio Snow Village Ice Restaurant looks exactly as the name suggests. The Finnish restaurant located in the town of Kittilä is made entirely of ice, housed in an igloo-like structure, so bring a very warm coat when you visit it.

Another cool thing about the Lainio Snow Village Ice Restaurant is that it features a plethora of gorgeous ice sculptures such as that of the Night King from Game of Thrones. In addition, the restaurant’s ever-changing three-course menu will leave you wanting for more. Make sure to reserve a table because it’s quite the popular destination.

The Rock Restaurant

The Rock Restaurant, as you might have guessed, is situated on a rock in the Indian Ocean. The restaurant is located in Tanzania and it’s one of the most popular tourist attractions in the area. The ocean is mild and warm, so you can swim to the restaurant or even walk there as the waters are quite shallow.

The Rock Restaurant doesn’t only have an interesting concept, it’s quite the fancy affair. You can enjoy a brilliant gourmet menu while having one of the best views of the ocean that anyone can dream of. We recommend the Rock Special entrée that features cigal, king prawns, octopus, and calamari on the grill.

Ithaa Undersea Restaurant

Ithaa Undersea Restaurant is the first underwater restaurant in the world and we are all there for it! It’s not a trickery, this restaurant is for real. The restaurant was built overground and then it was submerged into the water.

Ithaa Undersea Restaurant is located on Rangali Island in the Maldives and it opens a view to the beautiful coral reefs of the area and all the aquatic creatures you can imagine. It might feel bad to do it, but you should definitely try their fish dishes that you can be confident are fresh.

Dinner in the Sky

You’ve probably heard about this one restaurant but you know we couldn’t exclude it from the list. Dinner in the Sky is the first restaurant of this kind whereas the diners are suspended in the air while enjoying their carefully curated course meal.

The creators of this outwardly experience are Belgians with experience in amusement park facilities. Their first suspended dining experience took place in 2006 in London but it has since visited many countries around the globe and you can order it for your exclusive party if you have the funds.

Conclusion

So, what are your thoughts on these restaurants with interesting locations? Have you been to any of them and do you want to add more to the list? Let us know!
